There is currently a film in the works on the life of C.S. Lewis. Currently titled Surprised by Joy it is set to come out late 2011 or early 2012. The film is to be shot in Oxford, England starting next March by Grey House Films. You can go here to read more about the film and an interview with one of the writers, Darren Jacobs.

When I first saw it I didn't really like that much, but once I had watched it over a few times, I began to like it more and more. It looks like the movie is going to be quite different to the book. Though I am sure it'll still be great!

Sorry it's taken me so long to post this!

Right. . . where to begin? I follow Tony Nixon on facebook - Tony plays Rynelf in VODT. Through a link on my facebook profile, Mr. Nixon found our Narnia blog - and tried to leave a comment on this post, but wasn't able to. . . so he sent me a message on facebook instead. Here's what he had to say:

Hi Guys, Tony Nixon here (Rynelf) not sure what you mean by doesn't match? If you mean the size you may be right. I'm 99% sure that a lot more sail will be CGI on top of what you see here. When "master and commander" was made the same method was used .... I "think" full sail would be too dangerous for the ship as it stands on a hydraulic gimbal.
I did a scene in the crows nest and believe me the CG image I saw on the monitor after had a lot more height to it than you see here. I was about 20 ft off the ground in the "Nest" and I think this and the "Fighting tops" are all added later .... She will look magnificent.
But I don't know for sure ...... just an educated guess shall we say.

How cool is that, getting a personal message from one of the sailors of the Dawn Treader! :-D Thank you so much, Tony, for taking the time to respond to our blog post!

Narnia in 3-D?

I was looking at our last post and realized it was in January! Terribly sorry about that.

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is set to come out on December 10 of this year. It will come out as 3-D, but if you don't really care for 3-D, they are also coming out with 2-D as well. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader wasn't originally planned to come out as 3-D, so hopefully that will not be the only special effects put in it.

Remember this post? My predictions were correct. . . King Caspian does indeed have a beard! Thankfully he has cut his hair. And can I just say - I LOVE the costumes. King Caspian looks very kingly, IMHO.

apparently Fox films wants to bump up their 3D movies. with Avatar and Ice Age this year. They plan to make 3 into 3D next year.

And since Dawn Treader is going to be a big movie. We might just get a 3D adventure!

What Fox's Licensing Department was really trying to get toy manufacturers & t-shirt makers excited about was the fact that they were now working with Walden Media to produce the third film in "The Chronicles of Narnia" series, "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader." Which is expected to sail into theaters just in time for the 2010 holiday season.

Caspian with facial hair?

I hope that title got your attention! :P

You want might want to have a look at this interview, in which Ben Barnes talks about The Voyage of the Dawn Treader from roughly 3:22 onwards. He has grown his hair down past his shoulders in readiness for shooting VOTDT, and. . . what's up with the whiskers? It would appear King Caspian will be sporting a beard, as well as the long hair, in the next Narnia film. You might think it's silly to be making all this fuss about it, but remember that in the books Caspian is kind of too young to even have a beard. . . :-/

Aussie seals new Narnia film deal

Most of the third film in the Narnia series is likely to be shot in Queensland - although it is still possible that some of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader could be shot in New Zealand.

Queensland Premier Anna Bligh has confirmed that the Australian state's Pacific Film and Television Commission was in negotiations with 20th Century Fox and Walden Media to have the A$150-million (NZ$191m) film, co-produced by Kiwi Andrew Adamson, largely shot in Queensland.

Much of the action in the film takes place at sea, and Warner Roadshow Studios has three film water tanks, including the largest purpose-built tank in Australia.

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader was to have been largely shot at Baja Studios in Mexico, which has a water tank used for Titanic. But ongoing drug wars in the region have made it unsafe.

Adamson directed the first two Narnia films, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and Prince Caspian, and some shooting for both was done in New Zealand. He is one of the producers on the third instalment.

Prince Caspian producer Mark Johnson told The Dominion Post last year that neither he nor Adamson had ruled out shooting some scenes for The Voyage of the Dawn Treader here.

Film New Zealand, which promotes New Zealand as a location to make movies, could not say whether The Voyage of the Dawn Treader had made any decision about shooting here.

Film New Zealand chairman Julian Grimmond said Queensland's studio facilities - including water tanks - were a reminder that we needed similar facilities to attract film-makers here.

With all the buzz and excitement about the upcoming Narnia movies - in particular, the third movie in the series, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader - I have decided to start a blog where I can post updates and news about the new Narnia film. It will be a place for me to vent my excitement and enthusiasm, and for you to stay updated on all the latest Narnia news! At least, that's the idea.

I've been trying to think of a clever title for this blog, but I can't think of anything. If you can think of something better and more original than "Chronicles of Narnia Movie News", please leave a comment and I will consider using your suggestion as a new title for the blog.
